Illustrations tell stories. I am interested in many different types of stories from children’s books to archaeological illustration. Who am I telling the story to, and how will they best understand the story based on the art?

Even if the illustration is technical. How did people make these arrowheads? Why would someone bury this pottery? What did a Greek temple look like before it fell to ruin? The archaeological context becomes the story that the illustrator is telling.
